WE ARE MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote of the Day: PIZZA!!!! CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM!!!!!! -- Jenny & Danica as we were taking pictures....

The Countdown: The countdown is *officially* over!!!! We are MARRIED!!!!!! We had a wonderful time....such a wonderful time. I can't even really fully grasp it.... amazing.

School: I am actually somewhat looking forward to going back to school... I guess mostly so that I can be done and be a graduate!!! :) I think this year is going to be great... school, lessons, life... it will be great! I am also really looking forward to the Society for Music Theory's conference at the end of October in Montreal! It will be so fun!!! The preliminary programme for the conference is up on the SMT website! There are about 3 sessions that I am really looking forward to -- two on early music and one on Sonata theory (which will be really helpful since I'll *hopefully* be doing a directed study on Sonata theory in the fall!!!).

Work: D.O.N.E. until August 27th! :)

Me: I'm EXHAUSTED and completely, utterly in bliss-town.... my husband is the most amazing man in the world and I am so so lucky to have found him.

Looking forward to: Going to SPAIN!!!! We leave at 7:50 tonight... I'm also looking forward to sleeping more normally now :)

Contemplating: How beautiful everything was; how amazing my friends are; how INCREDIBLE and AMAZING my family is; how fabulous the soap in the church bathroom was; how utterly incredible my husband is....

The Family Arrival

Quote of the Day: "Aunnnnnntttttiiiiiieeeee Kaaattttiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!" -- Jenny yelling across the airport as she ran to me and ran me over!!!

The Countdown: 3 MORE SLEEPS!!!!!! All is becoming real now!!! Greg's west-coast family all arrived last night -- this is for SURE making it real!!! I picked Tim, Jill & Jenny up at the airport in KW yesterday and we all drove down to Hamilton to Greg's parent's place where all are staying until Friday!!!! Greg's sister Sarah (along with Jim & Danica) arrived about 1/2 an hour after we did!!! Great reunion!! It's so fun to see Jenny & Danica together -- they just love each other!!! Tonight = bachelor/bachelorette party in Hess Village!!!!

Me: I'm doing well.... I REALLY need to start packing... I am heading to the mall as soon as this post is over to pick up a few last minute things (and get my ring shined!!) and then coming home to do piles of laundry and begin ye-olde packing process!!!!

Looking forward to: going out tonight and getting a chance to introduce everyone to everyone!!! It's going to be great!!!!!

Contemplating: How beautiful our wedding is going to be and just how much I really love Greg and am so happy to be marrying him :)

T-minus two shifts to go!

Quote of the Day: "Maybe I've been here before; I know this room, I've walked this floor, I used to live alone before I knew you. I've seen your flag on the Marble Arch, love is not a victory march; it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah..." -- Leonard Cohen, Hallelujah

The Countdown: So we're down to counting in number of days now!!!! 5 more days to go!!!!! I woke up this morning and suddenly started to feel like I haven't done ANYTHING and that there is SO MUCH I have to do -- but I can't really think of what these "things to do" are. It's rather annoying... Hopefully my brain comes up with things I have to do or else it realizes I have nothing left to do and just relaxes!!!!

There are about 3 sessions that I am really looking forward to -- two on early music and one on Sonata theory (which will be really helpful since I'll *hopefully* be doing a directed study on Sonata theory in the fall!!!).

Work: Last night was actually a pretty good shift! It was fun to be the manager again but I'm just as happy being a server without all of the responsibility!!!! I'm working a split today at KC then off for almost three weeks!!!!!

Me: 2 more shifts to go!!! Huzzah!!! Those two shifts will actually be done TODAY so awesome!!! :) Tomorrow, I'm getting my hair done in the morning and then Greg's family arrives from out west tomorrow evening!!!! I think once people start arriving it will all become a reality!!!!!

Looking forward to: SPAIN and the Big Day!!! I can't wait to see everything all come together!!! SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN!!! I just can't wait...!!

Contemplating: How much better I DID feel after a full night's rest :)

One week!!!!

The Countdown: Under one week to go!!!! This time next week, we will be at my mum's house for the morning-after brunch!!!!! It's hard to believe that in one week it will all be OVER. Crazy. I have two more days of work and then I am off so I can really get going on the final plans!!!!

There are about 3 sessions that I am really looking forward to -- two on early music and one on Sonata theory (which will be really helpful since I'll *hopefully* be doing a directed study on Sonata theory in the fall!!!).

Work: Two more days of work left!!!! :-) I am working 2:30-Close today as the manager...that could be fun!! It's raining so hopefully I wont have to open the patio!!!! :P

Me: 3 more shifts until my holiday!!!!! I'm so excited.... I need a few days off -- I have a strange rash on my arms which I am attributing to stress....I don't feel stressed out but maybe I am!!!! :P 3 more shifts....3 more shifts.... Allan and Colleen's wedding was AMAZING!!!! She looked SO beautiful and Allan and the boys looked great in their tuxes from Ludlow's!!!!! The party was...well...two words: open bar. Oh man. Church people...we are so CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to: SPAIN and the Big Day!!! I can't wait to see everything all come together!!! SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN!!! I just can't wait...!!

Contemplating: How much better I feel today after a full nights rest....

And so begins the Month of Weddings..

Quote of the Day:

Robbie Hart from The Wedding Singer (performed by Adam Sandler)

I wanna make you smile whenever you are sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I'll miss you
I'll kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

I'll need you
I'll feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed if you've had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you
.

The Countdown: Almost down to the "one week" marker!!! SO EXCITED!!!! Everything starts rolling today with Allan and Colleen's wedding in Newmarket!!! I am heading to Brantford shortly to get my hair done -- using their wedding as a trial for my wedding hair!!! The dress FITS! FINALLY!!!! It is so beautiful...I just can't wait to wear it allllllllll day!!!! :) :) We got a lot of other things done on Wednesday, aka Craft Day, aka Longest Shopping Day Ever!!!! We re-did the seating chart which I wasn't too thrilled about at first but finally saw the potential for the new idea my mum had -- she's right sometimes!! :P

Work: Have been working a bit this week but it hardly feels like it because it has been SO slow.... yay August!!!! I'm off tonight -- haven't had a Friday off in AGES!!!!

Me: 3 days until vacation.... yay yay YAY! THREE DAYS!!!! That's so sooooooon!!!! I enjoyed my day off SO much Sunday... but am quickly realizing my vacation doesn't REALLY start until next Sunday... but I can pretend it's Tuesday!!! ;)

Looking forward to: SPAIN and the Big Day!!! I can't wait to see everything all come together!!! SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN!!! I just can't wait...!! I'm also really looking forward to Allan & Colleen's wedding TODAY!!! I get to sing some pretty songs and also get to test drive the wedding hair!!!! It will be fun to party with RCMP officers, bikers and church people!!!

Contemplating: What it will be like to party with RCMP officers, bikers and church people.... WE'LL SEE!!!!!

It's a Holiday???

Quote of the Day: "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; And I'm not sure about the universe." -- Einstein

The Countdown: Less than two weeks to go!!! So, against my better judgment, I checked the weather network's long-range forecast again today and... now there is NO rain forecast for the wedding day!!!! It will be entertaining to see how many times this changes between now and next Saturday!!! Have my FINAL dress fitting on Wednesday... *fingers crossed*.

Work: Turns out my close was pretty decent on Friday night...even though the door was stuck shut the next day (probably due to my OCD when it comes to making sure the doors are locked!)! Easily opened with a little force but I had a small heart attack when Kevin called me in the early afternoon!!!! Had a wonderful day off yesterday and am working again tonight at 5... if you're looking for something to do on this holiday Monday, come to King Street Trio for 1/2 price apps and salads!!!!

Me: 7 days until vacation.... yay yay YAY! SEVEN DAYS!!!! That's so sooooooon!!!! I enjoyed my day off SO much yesterday....we did absolutely NOTHING. Drank beer, made tasty food, drank more beer, watched movies, drank wine, made more tasty food and watched more movies. It. Was. Fabulous.

Looking forward to: SPAIN and the Big Day!!! I can't wait to see everything all come together!!! SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN!!! I just can't wait...!! I'm also really looking forward to Allan & Colleen's wedding next weekend!!! I get to sing some pretty songs and also get to test drive the wedding hair!!!! It will be fun to party with RCMP officers, bikers and church people!!!

Contemplating: Phase Two of the rumba lessons....steps are taught...now we need to try them together!! Also contemplating the fun that will be had on Friday at Allan & Colleen's wedding!!!!! :-)

Spain in T-minus Two Weeks!!!

Quote of the Day: "My choice early in life was either to be a piano-player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference." -- Harry S. Truman

The Countdown: Less than two weeks to go!!! I'm not really all that impressed with the long-range forecast for the 15th - RAIN! However, I've learned not to trust the Weather Network because they are almost always wrong, especially with their long-range forecasts. And really, there isn't much I can do about the weather. As much as I want it to be a beautiful, sunny day, I don't think a little rain will ruin the day -- it should just rain at 5:01 after everyone has arrived and settled in for the reception!!!!!

Work: Turns out my close was pretty decent on Friday night...even though the door was stuck shut the next day (probably due to my OCD when it comes to making sure the doors are locked!)! Easily opened with a little force but I had a small heart attack when Kevin called me in the early afternoon!!!! Worked last night -- it was pretty busy but mostly because we cut down to two servers...perfect! The new manager was there doing some training and she is going to be AWESOME! :)

Me: 8 days until vacation.... yay yay YAY! I have the ENTIRE day off today! So exciting...I have nothing to do (well... I do have a few things I could do but I could also do them tomorrow...!!!)!!! So I might find a book and head outside to soak up some of this sun we finally seem to be getting!!!!

Looking forward to: Sunday off, SPAIN and the Big Day!!!

Contemplating: the fact that the wedding is less than two weeks away!!! I think it's going to be an absolutely wonderful day and I'm really looking forward to marrying the best man in the entire world!!! :) :) :)

Two Weeks!!!!!

Quote of the Day: "Bob believed in the ripple effect. Which was surprising, given that his own ripple didn't appear to be all that effective". -- Mike Baldwin, Cornered

The Countdown: TWO WEEKS!!! I can't believe it!!! The schedule for my final full week of work went up last night!! Things really started to sink in when I filled out my availability for the next work week: Lunch/Dinner on Monday, rest of the week OFF!!!!! Gift purchasing is half-way completed because of an adventurous drive to Guelph yesterday. I thought I knew where I was going and I sort of did... eventually I found the mall I was looking for!!! Just a few gifts left to get... Sarah's dress finally arrived yesterday and she has had her fitting and will go back on Wednesday *phew*! That means she'll have a dress in time for traveling :) I guess we really must get a move-on on the rumba lessons....! Tomorrow....

Work: Worked last night... all went pretty well! Patio was crazy full, mostly because we had like, the only nice day yesterday!!! Then I was the manager...things went well, almost too well which of course makes me nervous!!! I kept wondering all night what I forgot to do!!! Hopefully the report from the opening manager will be good!!! I think it was weird because I did the close on Thursday night with the other manager and it took so much longer than it took me last night to do everything. That of course makes me think I forgot to do something, but it most likely is just that I did it by myself instead of having the other manager talk me through EVERY step....

Me: 9 days until vacation.... yay yay YAY! Have tomorrow completely off which I am greatly looking forward too!!!

Looking forward to: Sunday off, SPAIN and the Big Day!!!

Contemplating: Channeling Leonard Cohen, Loreena McKennitt, my Celtic heritage and the rumba gods....

Finally! SUMMER!

Quote of the Day: "The man who smiles when something goes wrong has thought of someone to blame it on." -- Robert Bloch

The Countdown: 16 days!!!! Time is actually moving really quickly which it usually doesn't when I'm waiting for something fun and exciting!!! Sadly, my dress fitting could have probably gone a little better yesterday. For example, the seamstress could have actually DONE the alterations she was supposed to. *SIGH* So it's back again next week for a final, FINAL fitting. We'll see!!! I just can't figure out why these alterations have been so difficult!!! It's not as if I asked them to re-make the whole dress or anything!! Just simple alterations like adding straps, hemming, bustle-adding etc. I think the problem all started when she decided to let the dress out a bit at the hips -- I think she did the entire SIDE instead of just the hips. OY. There was a new seamstress there yesterday who seemed to get it as soon as I walked out of the dressing room so let's keep our fingers crossed!!! Other than that, everything really is done except gift-purchasing and dance-teaching! Weekend projects....

Work: Worked last night and it was BUSY! 65 people on res for a Wednesday night!!! Oy! So it was a bit crazy but all is ok! I'm working a split today and we have a big party coming in at 4:30 tonight so it's going to be a loooonnnng day! On a fun note, I get to be the manager tomorrow night!! It's been a while so hopefully I remember how to do everything at close!!!

Me: 11 days until vacation.... yay yay YAY! I handled the alterations-issue not too badly yesterday... I'm trusting that they'll actually get it RIGHT this time!!!!

Contemplating: Rumba lessons, music learning and PACKING!!

The dress, the dress!

Quote of the Day: "To love someone deeply gives you strength. To be loved by someone deeply gives your courage." - Lao Tzu

The Countdown: 17 days!! I just realized that this is my last free weekend coming up! Next weekend, Allan's wedding then OUR WEDDING!!!!! I'm going for my final dress fitting in less than an hour. I hope, for the sake of the women at the store, that they did the alterations correctly this time.

School: I am actually somewhat looking forward to going back to school... I guess mostly so that I can be done and be a graduate!!! :) I think this year is going to be great... school, lessons, life... it will be great!

Work: Worked at lunch yesterday -- it was kinda busy. We have this group of people that like to come in all the time, which is great because we like regulars. The only problem is, they seat themselves and get rather demanding but are always in a rush! They come in one at a time and order food all over the place so their food never comes out all together. Yesterday, they said there would be two or three -- which I guess means eight. Super. Anyway, it was a good lunch shift!

Me: 12 days until my vacation... yay! Twelve days... I can almost taste the freedom now!!!! I'm nervous about the dress fitting today because I don't really know how well I'll handle things if the alterations are not up to my liking again this time.... I just hope that they fixed everything!!!!

Contemplating: How we never got around to the Rumba lesson on Monday night... we should really get on that!!! First, I have to learn some music for Allan and Colleen's wedding....!

Monday, Monday

Quote of the Day: I love thee, I love but thee, with a love that shall not die; Till the sun grows cold,
And the stars grow old...-- Bayard Taylor

The Countdown: 19 days!! I got all of the thank you cards done yesterday... no wonder my hand hurts so much today!!!

School: I am actually somewhat looking forward to going back to school... I guess mostly so that I can be done and be a graduate!!! :) I think this year is going to be great... school, lessons, life... it will be great!

Work: Yay two days off!!! Saturday night was... interesting. It started off REALLY slowly... our first table arrived at 5:30.. then we got one more. Then that was it. Until 7pm when it got a little crazy!!!! He cut down to two servers though and it was AWESOME! Best night ever! Made good $$ and was out of there before ten... we did the fastest close known to man!!! I think it's great when you can work with someone who just does stuff -- you don't have to ask them!!! It was fantastic!!!

Me: 14 days until my vacation... yay! It's been nice to have these two days off but I'm starting to realize just how tired I am.... I really need a holiday!!!! Or two days off where I just sleep...

Contemplating: Teaching the Customs Officer how to rumba.... break out the wine!!!

Sunday, Rainy Sunday

Quote of the Day: an oldie: "You can't come in here with that drink." "It's WATER!"

The Countdown: 20 days :) Actually under three weeks now!!! So excited!!! I finished the seating chart yesterday... I cleaned the whole house only to realize that the piece of paper I wanted was right in front of me... oh well! Now we have a clean house! :) Today's task: thank you cards.

School: I realized today that school doesn't start until September 14th -- holy late! So that means I can work an extra two weeks which makes me feel so much better about taking so much time off in August. :)

Work: Off today and tomorrow - yay two days off!!! Last night was... interesting.

Me: 15 days until my vacation... yay! I will count today and tomorrow as mini-vacation but I am so busy for the next two days that it doesn't
really count. Today, I went to get my mum and drove her to a bridal shower in town. After she is done we are going for dinner -- so busy, but lovely! Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment and then am going to mum and dad's to tie up any last minute wedding details!!! Again, I'm really excited for the wedding but I think I am more excited for it to happen and be over!!! :)

Looking forward to: SPAIN and the Big Day!!! I can't wait to see everything all come together!!! SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN!!! I just can't wait...!!

Contemplating: This insane weather and why Canadians are always talking about the weather... also contemplating the pile of "thank you" notes I'm about to begin!!!

Thunderstruck

Quote of the Day: Winnipeg's coach talking to the TSN lady: "We tried this quarterback and it didn't work, we tried the next one and it didn't work. Can you throw?"

The Countdown: 21 days - 3 weeks today we will be at my parent's place, getting dressed and ready to head to the church!!! I hope the weather is better than today. Today's seating chart project is at a stand-still because I can't find the little piece of paper I have left to re-print table #5. Ugh. So this requires cleaning up the house first...

School: I realized today that school doesn't start until September 14th -- holy late! So that means I can work an extra two weeks which makes me feel so much better about taking so much time off in August. :)

Work: Working at 5 tonight... slowish day yesterday but we got lots of regulars in at lunch and they always tip well so I didn't mind getting cut last night!! ;)

Me: 16 days until my vacation from work. Can't. Come. Sooner. Not that anything is bad at work, it's just tiring and I'm ready for some off-time. I'm so excited for our wedding but I will also be quite happy when it's over!!! It's been fun to plan but every free day I have I spend working on wedding things or thinking about wedding things or.... it will be great to be married!!!!

Looking forward to: SPAIN and the Big Day!!! I can't wait to see everything all come together!!! SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN!!! I just can't wait...!!

Contemplating: The Big Day -- I've been working really hard for the last year and am very excited to see everything come together. I'm also really looking forward to *making it official* -- it makes me think about just how lucky I really am! :)

TGIF...wait...

Everybody always gets so excited about Fridays but my *weekend* doesn't usually start until Sunday!!! The weather (yes, I truly am Canadian.. talking about the weather) has been TRULY sucky lately so we'll see if that has any effect on business at the restaurants this weekend!

Quote of the Day: "I hope we don't get a table at ten-to-nine-thirty tonight!!" - Chef

The Countdown: 22 Days away now! The contract has been officially signed and sent in to the Country Club so the reception is all set to go! Tomorrow's project: finish the seating chart. It's pretty much done except for the one table that I missed putting a space between the table header and the first name... I, of course, didn't realize it until I had cut it perfectly to fit and glued all the tiny little ribbon edges on! UGH. Now, to find a piece of the paper that I printed the tables on....

School: I realized today that school doesn't start until September 14th -- holy late! So that means I can work an extra two weeks which makes me feel so much better about taking so much time off in August. :)

Work: Working a split today... the Friday split is not really my favourite split... especially because I work 11:30 & 6:30... I don't like the 6:30 dinner start. Oh well! Tomfool has 7 days to go.. the schedule will go up hopefully today so I can see just how many times I have to work with him before he goes! Yesterday was slow... but thankfully we didn't get a late table so that was good!

Me: Tired today. This weather just makes me want to scream... it's been so humid these last few days and that just kills my sinuses. I think I might have a few days off coming up so that would be good. I've realized that I have been working a LOT and haven't really been taking any time off, seeing as I am banking it all for August. It will be very good to have almost two weeks off. 17 days....

Looking forward to: SPAIN and the Big Day!!! I can't wait to see everything all come together!!!

Contemplating: The Big Day -- I've been working really hard for the last year and am very excited to see everything come together. I'm also really looking forward to *making it official* -- it makes me think about just how lucky I really am! :)

New Blog

OH how I somewhat miss the world of blogging!!! I do love to *secretly* read other people's blogs. But it was kinda fun when we all had blogs back in the day. SO I thought I would start the trend again. Also, since the Customs Officer and I are heading to Spain in a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to blog about our adventures out there... and also the adventures leading up to our wedding!!!!

*Credit for the following layout of the blog must go to
The Freewaydiva*

The Countdown: We are 23 days away from the Big Day and I'm getting very excited!!! It's really to that point now where I just want it to HAPPEN! Aside from the Best Woman missing her dress (even though she ordered it in like, APRIL) and a few happenings with my own dress, we are ready to go!! Family begins to arrive in about 2.5 weeks... it will be really great!!!

School: Currently ticking me off *again* -- shock of all shocks. Once again, no scholarships for me, although these scholarships are the in-course based ones... that I may have missed by like .025 on my GPA marker... gah.

Work: Well, I have been working. A LOT. And it's good, for the most part. The money pile on the coffee table is good :) I have been rather impressed with my ability to return to the restaurant and stay there for already half a year longer than last time and have stayed remarkably untouched by The Wrath. I am not sure whether that is because The Wrath is no longer as bad as it used to be, or if I'm just handling it differently. Either way, it's been almost a pleasure to work there again. The Tomfool leaves in 8 days... this could be interesting.

Me: Currently fighting the Worst Summer Allergy Season Ever and would really appreciate some warmer weather. I'm not really complaining about the fact the S. ON has only broken through the 30 degree barrier once this summer, but a little less rain would be super. Last night we went to watch the Customs Officer play soccer... the rain held out.. just barely. Then we went to my favourite little pub in Dundas and it was... well.. less than stellar. I was so sad. The waiter and waitress (yes, we had two over the course of the evening) messed everything up on the bills and took forever to a) get more beer b) clear plates away and c) get refills of ribs for those partaking in the All-You-Can-Eat Rib special. It was sad...

Today = working a split at the restaurant and trying to print off the info packages for my students for September, since I realized it's almost the end of July and I wont really be around very much in August.
